Through strategic planning of the business over the years, Cord Civil has earned the reputation as a decent and honest civil contractor who specialise in challenging civil works, especially road intersections, and projects that involve significant interface with traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian.

Management Systems

Cord Civil are committed to ensuring healthy and safe workplaces for our team, clients and visitors. We operate our business using a third-party accredited Integrated Management System (IMS) inclusive of our WHS, Environmental and Quality Assurance Systems. Our accredited WHS system meets the requirements of AS4801 Standard and is used across our business.

Our system provides a robust WHS system for identifying and controlling our health and safety risks, reducing the potential for accidents and ensures we are complying with all relevant legislation, and best practice industry standards. If there are any changes in Legislative requirements during the project, Cord Civil’s IMS Manual and PMP will be updated and implemented as required.

continuous improvement activities

Cord Civil ensures our WHS system is implemented effectively across the business through a range of training, management and continuous improvement activities as follows:

Our team including contractors all hold the relevant induction Cards for our workplaces and receive regular WHS training to actively identify and manage risks;
Use of the IMS Manual, Project Management Plan (PMP), Policies and Instructions across the business;
Specific delegation of Cord Civil personnel tasked to oversee and report on all WHS system requirements to ensure they are being implemented effectively across our projects, teams and workspaces;
Proactive participation from management, all personnel, subcontractors, clients and stakeholders;
Specific identification of hazards and risks on our worksites, prior to starting works as well as reviewing regularly throughout each project;
Providing both on site and structured training opportunities for personnel irrespective of their experience in the industry;

Cord Civil are committed to continuous improvement of WHS within the construction industry playing a leadership role as an active member of industry forum groups including the ACT Construction Industry Safety Reference Group.
Regular and planned auditing of the IMS by our internal systems team to ensure continuous improvement; and
Independent external audits on our IMS on an annual basis by third party auditing organisation Global-Mark, with re-certification every three years. This is a detailed and thorough audit involving workplace visits to our main office, workshop and two current projects sites over several days.
Cord Civil also actively encourage and participate in ACT Government Active Certification audits conducted on ACT Government projects. To date Cord Civil have not received any non-conformances for our projects.
